AACL-JHB Animal Welfare Feeding Scheme (AWFS)

Guidelines for Pet Food Distribution from Animal Anti-Cruelty League Johannesburg (AACL-JHB).

AACL-JHB is a non-profit Organization that relies solely on donations.  Occasionally we are able to secure large volumes of pet food and when this happens, we are happy to make some available for sharing with other registered, reputable animal welfare organizations in Gauteng.  Sadly, we are unable to fulfill wish lists or individual requests.

Eligibility Criteria: To qualify to benefit from these donations, your organization must be a registered and reputable animal welfare organization. This is entirely at our discretion.

We will only deal with the Director/Owners/Chairperson of such organisations and will not supply individuals or volunteers working “with” an organization.

Distribution: We will distribute pet food in 10kg bags in 150kg lots to your organisation (i.e. 150kg dog or cat food or both and cat litter) we are happy to allocate multiple lots per collection with prior arrangement. This will always be dependent on the quantity and availability of pet food/cat litter, we receive and will be at our discretion.

Due to the cost of logistics and preparing the food for collection, an admin fee of R250 per 150kg will be charged. e.g. should you collect 300kg of food, the admin fee will be R500, Cash and Card facilities are available. We do not accept EFT’s. An AACL-JHB receipt will be issued for every collection.

PLEASE NOTE THE PET FOOD CANNOT BE SOLD!

Each invited organisation must submit the following documents to our Marketing Manager, Carren Nickloes at: jhbmarketing@aacl-jhbnb.co.za prior to first collection.

  • NPO/NGO Certificate or registration
  • A brief synopsis of your organization, including the average number of dogs and cats assisted through the organisation and in what areas (e. Jhb South, Benoni, PTA etc.)
  • Contact details for the Director/Owner /Chairperson of the organisation.
  • Contact person who will be collecting donations on behalf of the organisation

Pet Food Collection Process:

You will be added to the WhatsApp group exclusively for the distribution of donations. We will keep you updated on a regular basis.

Once you receive a notification, kindly advise us of the quantity of pet food/cat litter you wish to collect via the WhatsApp group. We will confirm the collection date and time once ready.  Collections are only available from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League Johannesburg, 59 Alice Street, Regents Park, JHB South.

Authorized Collectors: You will need to confirm the details of the person collecting the donations on behalf of your organization. The collector must know what they are picking up.

Food packaging: The pet food is a mixture of various brands and will be decanted from original packaging. It will be labeled as either “Cat” or “Dog” food. Please check your collection before leaving the premises. We could limit your orders depending on the quantity delivered, this will be so other organizations can also benefit. We are hoping to be able to distribute food every 10– 14 days. We will not pack donations under personal names or in different quantities.

Cat litter will be packed in your own marked container or bags – these will be dropped off and we will advise when they have been filled and ready for collection – this will not be done the same day.

All orders and requests must be made by the Director/Owner/Chairperson of the registered organization – we cannot accept orders by volunteers or individuals affiliated to your organisations.

Report back: We would appreciate it if you could send photos and updates of how “the support” is helping you and your community, as this enables us to report to the sponsor on the impact the food is making. Please be mindful and respectful to the community members when taking photos.

Finally, as with any sponsorship, we all know it could “stop” at any time. However, whilst available we will share with you for the benefit of the community and their animals.

Thank you for your co-operation. We look forward to working with you to give companion animals a fighting chance!
