Give the gift of warmth!

It is that time of year again when the temperatures here in Johannesburg start to drop fast, especially in the evenings. The recent widespread rains and flooding in some parts of Gauteng will probably mean an extra chilly winter for us all.

Bedding material is always needed in a shelter setting, more so in winter as we double up on blankets to keep the animals cozy and warm.  Sadly, blankets and bedding quickly get destroyed due to accidents, chewing, and the need to continually wash and dry them, making it hard to keep them in stock.

To ensure that each dog and cat is cozy and warm this winter, we are appealing for any type of new or used blankets, towels and used carpets and rugs.

We will gladly welcome rolls of polar fleece fabric as well, which are always easy for us to store, and can be cut to size as needed. Polar fleece rolls can be purchased at most fabric wholesalers and retailers.

The Challenge:

Each animal deserves a warm blanket to make their stay here more comfortable, so we have set a target of collecting 1000 blankets between
1 May 2022 and 30 July 2022.

Blanket donations can be dropped off at our premises or we can arrange collection.

Are you embarking on a declutter of your home this winter?

Whilst sorting through your house or garage for previously loved towels and blankets for the animals in our care, did you know that our Charity Shop is a growing source of income for our fundraising efforts and gratefully accepts many different types of previously loved items to resell?

All funds raised through the sales of items in our Charity Shop, goes a long way in assisting in the care and feeding of the stray, abandoned and abused animals whilst they wait to be adopted by loving families.

Many items that can no longer be used by your family, could be sold and actually make a real difference in the lives of the animals in our care, as well as a new family in the community.
We will gladly accept all good quality previously loved items including:

  • Clothing and shoes
  • Bedding
  • Furniture (household and garden)
  • White goods (fridge, stove, microwaves – in working order)
  • Household items
  • Bric-a Brac.
