|Pietermaritzburg NPO 011-319|
The Animal Anti-Cruelty League's Pietermaritzburg Society was established on the 1 May 1986. Our premises were at 114 Murray Road Cleland, Pietermaritzburg. But we are presently closed waiting relocation to new premises. This could take a while to happen.
At present, the League's main work is to assist pet owners who cannot afford to have their sick or injured animals attended to. Sterilizations and inoculations are an integral part of the services offered.
These services provided to the communities of Pietermaritzburg and its environs, are essential for the welfare of its animals.
The League is not in receipt of any grants, etc, and relies on donations from the public.
Monthly raffles and collection tins add to the income of the AACL.
In certain cases where a pet owner cannot contribute towards his pet's vet bill, the League bears the full cost thereof.
We also provide transport to and from the vet for animals at a minimal fee.
Medicines are also sometimes collected for sick animals and dropped off with the owners, where we not only assist in the dispensation thereof, but also educate them on the correct care and protection of their pets in the future.
School visits are regularly conducted, with the intent to educate the youth of today, on the principles of animal welfare and the care and protection of their pets; which knowledge will hopefully be taken forward, when they become the leaders of tomorrow.
`With the acquisition of an open piece of land, we will be erecting buildings and facilities
such as a clinic, proper kennels for cats and dogs, offices, storage rooms etc.
This in itself will provide us with the means to render an even more effective service to the communities, as we envision a state of the art animal sanctuary, complete with paddock, for farming livestock.
BRANCH CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!
